When everything feels urgent, nothing is actually urgent

When your brain goes: WTF do I do now?

You know those moments…

That particular kind of overwhelm where everything suddenly feels equally important?

Someone needs an answer.

There’s an email you forgot.

You need to make a decision.

You’ve remembered three other things while trying to deal with the first thing.

Someone wants something from you.

Or when you've left 15 hours of cooch weeding to the last minute before your Long Service Leave and it has to be done because all your seedlings are being strangled? Fun times- in the rain.

And somewhere amongst all of this, your brain, which was apparently supposed to be helping and is smart and clever, has simply gone:

Nope. I'm- out!

This is usually the moment you try to think harder.

Or rush to get MORE done!

Like, how can I do as much as possible to get out of this overwhelm?

You speed up.

You start solving.

You answer whoever is shouting the loudest.

You open another tab. You attempt to work out which of the seventeen things is actually the most urgent while simultaneously feeling like perhaps you should just lie down on the floor.

I want you to try something else.

Don’t make a decision yet.

Don’t answer everyone yet.

Don’t work out what to do first yet.

Climb up.

Listen to this ten-minute meditation.

That's it.

Let's do it together.
