Viola Prinz

Registered Psychologist

Hi, I’m Viola!

I am a warm, compassionate, and reflective psychologist who works with adults and adolescents seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and the patterns that may be keeping them stuck.

Many of the clients who find their way to me are thoughtful, capable people who may look like they’re coping on the outside, while internally feeling overwhelmed. You may be caught in repeating relationship patterns, struggling with harsh self-criticism, disconnected from your emotions, or find it difficult to express what you truly need.

In my therapy room, there is no rush. I create a calm, collaborative space where you can show up as you are, without pressure to have everything figured out or “do therapy” a certain way.

Here, you can show up as you are, without pressure to have everything figured out. There’s no rush, and no pressure to have everything figured out.

Rather than seeing you as a collection of symptoms or diagnoses to fix, I see you as a whole person whose internal world makes sense in the context of your experiences.

draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic and mindfulness-based approaches. This unique blend of modalities brings understanding to the different parts of you that can hold fear, pain, perfectionism, people-pleasing, emotional overwhelm, self-criticism, or protective coping patterns.

If you feel particularly disconnected from your emotions, caught in overthinking, or struggle to put words to what they are experiencing, these approaches will guide you back into connection, clarity and confidence within yourself.

My therapy offers depth, reflection, self-understanding, and a more experiential path toward meaningful change.

Together, we’ll work towards reconnecting you with your own inner guidance and move forward from hurtful past experiences towards feeling more emotionally grounded, flexible, and connected in daily life.

I’m here to empower you to embrace your inner wisdom. By fostering self-compassion and acceptance, we'll create lasting change, deepen your connection with yourself, and help you lead a more authentic and fulfilling life.

All Parts of you are Welcome, truly.

My therapeutic approach is primarily informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy: One of the things I love most about IFS is the compassionate lens it offers for understanding ourselves.

Many of us have parts that feel anxious, critical, overwhelmed, shut down, perfectionistic, people-pleasing, angry, or highly protective. Often, these are the very parts we become frustrated with, judge harshly, or wish would simply disappear.

In therapy, we work toward understanding these parts with greater curiosity and compassion, rather than battling against them.

What I find so powerful about this work is that when we begin to understand why these parts exist and what role they have been trying to play in helping us cope, something often starts to shift. The parts of us that have been working so hard to keep us safe can begin to feel less alone, less misunderstood, and less stuck in the roles they have had to carry.

When we begin to understand why these parts exist and what role they have been trying to play in helping us cope, something often starts to shift- and that is so powerful.

Building Inner trust

This work is not about forcing you into painful experiences before you are ready. Often, our protective patterns exist for very good reasons, and therapy moves at a pace that respects the role those protections have played.

As trust and safety begin to build internally, it can become possible to gently explore the more vulnerable emotions or experiences underneath with greater compassion, choice, and support.

Therapy is not about me fixing parts of you, but helping you connect with your own inner capacity for compassion, clarity, and understanding, so meaningful and lasting change can happen from within.

Over time, many clients find they feel less internally conflicted, less self-critical, and more connected to themselves in a meaningful way—not because parts have been forced to change, but because a different relationship has formed within.

  • Attachment wounds and family of origin dynamics.

  • Burnout and workplace stress.

  • Life transitions, uncertainty, and identity shifts.

  • Healing from painful past experiences.

  • Reconnecting with self-trust, confidence, and self-compassion.

  • Reconnecting with yourself during periods of significant change.

My client-centred, trauma-informed approach acknowledges that we often live in our heads, disconnected from our bodies and emotions.

My invitation is for you to experience therapy that becomes so much more than symptom management:

My approach helps you build a kinder, more trusting relationship with yourself that extends well beyond the therapy room.

Moving Forward

Therapy looks different for every person, but some of the common goals clients work toward include:

  • Making sense of the patterns that keep them feeling stuck.

  • Understanding the parts of themselves that feel reactive, overwhelmed, self-critical, or shut down.

  • Expressing needs with greater clarity and confidence.

  • Building healthier boundaries in relationships.

  • Relating to themselves with more compassion instead of self-judgement.

  • Reconnecting with trust in themselves and their own inner guidance.

  • Processing painful past experiences in a way that feels safe and meaningful.

  • Feeling more emotionally grounded, flexible, and connected in daily life.

My hope is that therapy becomes more than symptom management. Our sessions will help you build a kinder, more trusting relationship with yourself that extends well beyond the therapy room.

Your Roadmap to Healing

  • The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself. Many of us show more compassion and love to others and our pets than we do to ourselves, often due to a harsh inner critic, perfectionism, or people-pleasing tendencies. I help clients navigate these internal barriers to connect with themselves through compassion and acceptance. By working together, you'll learn to embrace yourself fully, overcome self-criticism and foster a more loving and understanding relationship with yourself.

  • Humans are complex and multifaceted, often experiencing conflicting thoughts and emotions. For example, one part of you might want to take a bold step, while another part holds you back with fear. I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients identify and understand these conflicting parts, building relationships with them. Each part holds wisdom and good intentions, even if their methods are misguided. Through openness and compassion, we can learn from these parts and integrate them, leading to greater self-understanding and harmony.

  • Navigating significant life decisions can be daunting without a clear sense of direction. I assist clients in connecting with their inner guidance, helping them explore their values, desires, and intuition. By uncovering what truly matters to you and aligning your choices with your authentic Self, you'll feel more confident and empowered in making decisions that resonate with your core beliefs. This process fosters clarity and assurance, allowing you to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence.

  • Acknowledging and processing past pain is crucial for transformation and growth. Many of us have locked away emotional wounds from childhood or other significant experiences, which can lead to internal turmoil. Through gentle, compassionate work with these painful memories and the protective systems surrounding them, we can begin to heal. This process helps transform past hurts into sources of resilience and wisdom, allowing you to move forward with renewed confidence and emotional strength.

  • Rebuilding trust in yourself involves empowering you to set boundaries, express your needs, and rediscover joy. As we address and calm feelings of overwhelm, there is space to reintroduce playfulness and self-inquiry into your life. Together, we’ll explore which qualities of yourself you wish to reclaim and embrace as we journey towards healing. This process helps restore confidence and a sense of meaning, enriching your life with a renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Inner Child Healing awaits.
