Inner Child Healing Perth
Inner Child Healing at Gabriella de Mori & Co.
Inner child healing is one of our specialities at Gabriella de Mori & Co — and our therapists are deeply passionate about this work. It has a way of bringing something unexpected and quietly profound to the therapy room.
In a safe, supportive space, you'll have the opportunity to reconnect with younger versions of yourself — the parts that may still be carrying old pain, unmet needs or beliefs formed long before you had the words for them. Your therapist might invite you to explore through guided imagery, visual cards, mapping your inner world on paper, or gently giving voice to the child within you.
If traditional talk therapy has felt too surface-level, or you've sensed there's something deeper that hasn't quite been reached yet, inner child healing might be exactly what you've been looking for. This work helps you get out of your head and into your heart — where real healing begins.
What is Inner Child Healing?
If you've ever felt like certain situations trigger a reaction that seems bigger than it should be — or found yourself falling into patterns you can't quite explain — your inner child might be asking to be heard.
Inner child healing is a compassionate, evidence-based approach that helps you reconnect with younger versions of yourself — the parts formed during childhood that may still be carrying unmet needs, old wounds, or beliefs that no longer serve you.
This isn't about reliving the past for the sake of it. It's about understanding where you came from, so you can move forward with more compassion, for yourself and the people around you.
How can Inner Child Healing can support your challenges?
Inner child healing is a gentle, deeply personal approach that can support you through:
-
When anxiety or depression has been with you for a long time, it often isn't just in your thoughts, it lives in your body, too. Inner child healing helps you trace these feelings back to where they began, reconnecting with the younger parts of you that first learned to feel this way. As those parts feel heard and safe, you'll find more space between you and the overwhelming emotions, and that spaciousness is genuinely empowering.
-
Traumatised parts of you can become time-stuck, still living in the moment the pain happened, as if no time has passed at all. Inner child healing gently connects you to those hurt, younger parts of yourself and helps them realise you're no longer that child. You're a capable, resilient adult, and together, you'll help those parts feel safe enough to finally let go.
-
You are innately worthy, but shame, self-criticism and an inner voice that says otherwise can drown that out completely. Inner child healing works with the parts of you that developed those beliefs early in life, softening them and helping you understand why they formed in the first place. When they no longer run the show, your true self has room to emerge
-
Relationships have a way of activating the deepest parts of us, fear of rejection, anger, defensiveness, not feeling good enough. Often, these reactions belong to a younger version of you that never got what they needed. Inner child healing helps you recognise when those parts get triggered, soothe them, and reconnect with what you truly need, so your relationships can reflect who you actually are now
-
Grief doesn't always follow a straight line, it arrives in waves, catches you off guard, and can feel all-consuming. Inner child healing offers a compassionate space to explore the many layers of your grief, including the losses from childhood you may never have fully processed. Slowly, you'll find your way back to balance, hope and even joy again.
-
Perfectionism, people-pleasing, shame and the need for control often developed as ways to keep you safe when you were young. But over time, they can take over, drowning out your authentic voice. Inner child healing works to gently soften those protective patterns, so your true self can start to lead. You'll learn to stay grounded when things get hard, and make decisions that actually feel like you
Ready to Meet the Parts of You That Need Healing?
Inner child healing gently invites you to reconnect with younger versions of yourself, the parts that formed during childhood in response to difficult or painful experiences. These parts often developed as ways to protect you at the time: a part that learned to stay small to avoid conflict, a part that shut down emotionally to cope with hurt, or a part still carrying shame or sadness from long ago.
Meeting Your Younger Self
In a safe, compassionate space, your therapist will guide you to connect with these younger parts of yourself, not to relive the past, but to finally give them what they needed then. You might find a part of you still holding onto an old hurt and gently invite it to be heard, offering the understanding and love it never received.
Where the Healing Happens
As your younger parts feel truly seen and safe, they can begin to release the burdens they've been carrying, the fear of failure, the walls built to keep people out, the inner critic that's been running the show. What replaces it is something quieter and more grounded: a kinder relationship with yourself, greater emotional balance, and a sense of wholeness that might have felt out of reach for a long time.
A Gradual, Lasting Shift
Over time, inner child healing helps you move through anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship challenges, not by analysing your way through them, but by tending to the parts of you that have been waiting to be heard. The result is greater self-awareness, self-compassion and a deeper acceptance of all of who you are.
What Does an Inner Child Healing Session Look Like?
Your session will typically run 60–90 minutes with one of our trained therapists. You'll be gently guided to reconnect with younger parts of yourself — the ones that may have been carrying old pain, unmet needs or protective patterns for a long time. From a place of curiosity and compassion, you'll learn to listen to those parts, understand what they need, and begin to offer them the safety and care they've been waiting for.
Every session is shaped around you and where you're at. Some people need just a few sessions; for others, this becomes a longer and deeply transformative journey. Either way, you'll move at a pace that feels right for you.
-
Your session begins with your therapist helping you feel grounded, safe and present. There's no rush here. Your therapist will take time to understand what's coming up for you right now, whether that's an emotion, a recurring pattern, a relationship trigger, or simply a feeling you can't quite name yet.
-
Gently and curiously, your therapist will guide you toward the younger parts of yourself that may be connected to what you're experiencing. This might happen through guided imagery, visualisation or simply following a feeling, wherever it leads, you'll never be pushed further than feels safe.
-
Once you've made contact with a younger part of yourself, you'll be invited to approach them with openness and curiosity, not to fix or change them, but simply to hear them. Often, this is the first time these parts have truly felt seen
-
This is where the deep work happens. Your therapist will guide you to offer your inner child what they needed but never received, safety, love, reassurance or simply being heard. Old beliefs and emotional burdens can begin to loosen and release here.
-
As healing occurs, your therapist will help you integrate what's shifted, building a stronger, more compassionate relationship between your present-day self and the younger parts of you. This is where lasting change begins to take root.
-
Before closing, your therapist will gently bring you back to the present, grounded, settled and connected to yourself. You'll never leave a session feeling unfinished or unsteady.
-
Your session ends with space to reflect on what came up and what felt significant. Your therapist may offer gentle insights or simple next steps to carry the work forward between sessions.
A creative and experiential approach that brings you out of your head and into a deeply personal encounter with your younger self. From this place of awareness and compassion, you begin to understand which parts of you have been leading the way, and which ones you're finally ready to release.
