Men’s Counselling Cottesloe
Supporting Men’s Wellbeing in Cottesloe
Men's counselling provides a safe and compassionate space to navigate the distinct pressures men encounter in modern life.
We aim to help men examine their inner world and feelings, develop strength, and discover effective strategies to enhance their emotional well-being and connections.
Whether you're managing pressure, frustration, or relationship challenges, our approach is personalised to align with your life and goals.
How We Support Men
Men's counselling offers a secure, accepting environment where you can examine and work through your emotional, mental, and relationship difficulties. Sessions generally consist of individual conversations with a qualified therapist who supports you in building deeper self-understanding, emotional management skills, and effective coping mechanisms.
Your therapist may draw on different methods, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), emotionally focused approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS), or grounding practices, tailored to your particular situation.
During counselling, you'll be invited to share your feelings, reflect on previous experiences, and cultivate healthier patterns of thought and behaviour. This journey helps you navigate pressure, worry, low mood, relationship or family challenges, and personal goals.
Men's counselling also enables our male clients to honour their feelings and strengthen their psychological well-being. Connecting with your emotions may feel unfamiliar or overwhelming at first. Our therapist will guide you to connect with why it’s helpful and show you how to experience and allow your emotions without dismissing or feeling overwhelmed by them.
Whether face-to-face or via telehealth, these services strive to foster a nurturing space for meaningful, enduring transformation.
Sessions may involve exploring:
Managing stress and anger.
Career, confidence and goal-setting.
Improving communication in personal and family relationships.
Addressing low self-esteem or self-doubt.
Developing strategies to cope with life transitions or loss.
Resolving Anxiety and Depression.
Identity outside of work and success.
Trauma healing.
Prioritising self-care, wellness and personal needs.
Finding meaning, purpose and direction in life.
Cultivating a ‘growth mindset.’
Fatherhood, relationships and family life.
Connecting to your own needs, emotions and desires.
“I love coming here, it’s my sanctuary.
I can have conversations here that I can’t have anywhere else.”

Your Men’s Counselling Session
Therapy appointments generally run for 60 minutes, with the total number of sessions depending on your personal circumstances and development. Throughout each appointment, your therapist collaborates with you to work through your challenges and goals.
Sessions might include discussing difficulties, developing management strategies, or setting goals for growth. The therapeutic space is private and accepting, ensuring men feel understood and encouraged throughout their journey while discovering more constructive and nurturing approaches to navigating life's challenges.
-
The session begins with an initial discussion where your therapist gathers information about your concerns, goals, and background. This helps create a tailored approach to address your needs and gives you a chance to also get to know your therapist.
-
Together with your therapist, you’ll set clear and achievable goals for what you hope to gain from counselling, ensuring the sessions are purposeful and focused and you feel engaged and excited.
-
Explore how your past family, relationship and life experiences have shaped you into the man you are today. Your therapist will help you make sense of your experiences and allow you to shift your identity and habits to what truly serves you for the future, and let go of what is no longer serving you.
-
You will have the opportunity to identify and explore underlying emotions and patterns that may be affecting your mental well-being or relationships and go beyond surface level reactions or triggers.
-
The therapist will guide you in developing practical tools and techniques, such as stress management or communication skills, to apply in your daily life.
-
Sessions may include reflective activities to help you better understand your thoughts and behaviours, fostering deeper self-awareness and personal growth. Developing these skills and being able to observe your thoughts actions and emotions will be incredible empowering for you.
-
Regular check-ins to evaluate your progress and adjust the approach as needed, ensuring the therapy remains aligned with your evolving goals. Many men choose to continue on-going regular appointments to keep their mental health on the right track and continue to enjoy the rapport and safe space with their therapist. We’ll make sure you’re excited about your future and have a clear plan of action.
