Rest your Inner Slave Driver✨

Is it Piña Colada time yet?

There are parts of you that know how to get things done.

They make the lists.

Answer the emails.

Keep the wheels turning.

Hold the family, the work, the plans, the goals, the life.

And often, you like these parts of yourself,

They have helped you become capable, successful, reliable, accomplished woman that you are known to be.

But sometimes another quieter voice begins to appear beneath all that doing....

I’m tired.

I don’t want to keep going like this.

I want to disappear into a cabin somewhere.

I don't want to be responsible for anyone.

All I want is a triple Piña colada and a private cabana right now.

Now, all that sounds great in theory, but you know that if you could easily rest and not listen to the slave driver, you would have done it by now.

The trouble is, the high-achieving part usually has something to say about that too.

Absolutely not.

We have things to do.

Don't think you're going to bed rot all weekend when we have families, empires and careers to run.

Welcome to: The inner conflict you're having: A famous battle between your Inner Slave Driver and Your Exhausted Self.

Gasp!

We all know who usually wins.

But are you clear on the parts of you that drive this fight?

In my free gifted talk and practice below, I explore how to understand this inner tug of war and how to unpick the core fears of the Inner Slave Driver.

Rather than trying to get rid of your high-achieving part, or telling it to take a month off and move to Bali, we begin somewhere much smaller and more workable.

We acknowledge how hard it has been working.

We thank it for everything it has helped you accomplish.

And then we negotiate.

Thirty seconds.

A minute.

A tiny pocket of time where nobody needs you, nothing needs solving, and the part of you that is always thinking, planning, producing and anticipating can put its feet up for a moment.

You’ll be guided into an imagined place of rest, somewhere protected, private and completely yours, and invited to let your body become tired there.

No emails.

No performance.

No one waiting for you.

Just enough space for the busy part to soften and discover that resting briefly does not mean giving up everything you care about.

This is a practice in balance.

Not becoming less ambitious.

Not abandoning the part of you that knows how to achieve.

Simply developing a little more freedom to move between doing and being, rather than living permanently with one part of you in the driver’s seat.

Use this practice in the middle of a busy day, on a lunch break, before the next thing, or whenever you notice that familiar internal command:

Keep going.

You may not be able to take the year off.

But perhaps you can take a minute.

You do not have to put it all down forever.

Just enough to remember what letting go feels like.
