Registered Clinical Counsellor

I am a Clinical Counsellor and Hypnotherapist who brings with me a wealth extensive experience from 20 years of working with individuals, couples and families, and adolescents.

In my work I place strong value around relationships and inner communication, by being keenly attuned to listening in on the stories and  expectations you have of yourself. Often, the inner critic is a large part of my work with clients where I support them to reduce their negative core beliefs and work towards more neutral and supportive beliefs.

I explore therapeutic goals to facilitate motivation, being more present and finding insight into self, growth with fulfilment in life. I love to equip clients with clear strategies, tools and ideas to take practice and empowered steps forward.

I always wanted to be the therapist who was kind, generous, relaxed, curious, open, real and accepting of where people are at.

    • My strengths as a couples therapist sits with my honesty, warmth, acceptance and recognition that at times, all relationships are tough. Couples often start counselling with a genuine desire to fulfil each other, where I assist you to re-find your pathway towards admiration, support and how to manage conflict. Through these foundations, you’ll reconnect again and create a thriving and secure partnership.  My couple’s work is underpinned by Schema and understanding attachment styles and communication styles by listening to narrative, which helps clients deeply understand the patterns and underlying beliefs and fears in their partners and themselves. Often, the fears or core unmet needs in partners become gridlocked into conflict. When we soften and deeply understand what’s at the heart of conflict, acceptance, connection and healing starts to grow.

  • As an experienced EMDR specialist I guide you through difficult childhood and adulthood experiences that have impacted you in a way that makes day to day life a struggle. I work with tools and methods linked with Schema Therapy and Hypnotherapy to tailor the pathway to healing for you.  I am passionate about EMDR as I have seen so many clients process difficult memories and triggers that have affected them on a daily basis sometimes without them even noticing this. After re-processing, clients are able to be in the present moment and connect to their inner world with a sense of safety and calmness. This not only brings relief, but hope and confidence to navigate future challenges. Imagine being able to walk in with a high distress level and walk out with a low to nil distress level on the same day. That is pretty magical and the power of EMDR.

    •  I am sorry you have come to believe that you need to hold shame of who you are, or your life experiences. We all hold shame, and yet all of us are aware, and thus, well done for being able to recognise it.  Shame can be physically intense and mentally distressing, often meaning you feel not good enough, bad or like a failure.
Let’s explore where it started, whom made you believe that this is true and that you need to carry it on. We’ll also focus on where it sits in the body alongside the negative beliefs and internal criticism that often accompanies shame. Through EMDR or other modalities, we can reduce your physical symptoms and internal beliefs that collide with shame and bring more compassion to your Inner World. and thus, well done for being able to recognise it.

I know how hard it can be to sit and share, especially with someone you don’t know.  My presence is sincere yet joyful. I am grounded and connected to my whole self. I have had tough times myself and been through couples therapy as well.

I love working with people who benefit from talking, sharing, healing and EMDR therapy to process your thoughts, emotions and experiences you feel stuck in, or held back by.
